We all know how hard animal shelters work to care for their residents. While doing so, sometimes something as simple as a photo gets put to the side. More than often photos of shelter animals are taken upon intake when the animal is still unsure of its new environment. Even more so dogs are usually pictured pulling on a leash and cats can be seen hiding in their litter box.
When prospective adopters see these photos there is not much to go off to show the animals true personality. Often times it will even have a negative affect and deter potential adoptions because the photo might show the animal in a bad light.
My mission is to partner with local animal shelters in an effort to help raise adoption rates. Through my photography I hope to help show prospective adopters the varying personalities of shelter animals and what life beyond the kennel would look like.
